Structure

5 things you need to consider when meeting
the challenge of designing a cabling system

Planning a cabling system can be a tedious task. We understand the concerns and worries that go with it. We are here to help! Our mission is to provide you with excellent service at affordable rates and to set new standards for customer service.

Support System
Modern buildings require an effective telecommunications system to support the transportation of information.
  • Standards are not flexible, you must support your infrastructure. BISCI recommends every 5 feet.
  • Create a spine / vertebrae system that flows from the closet to location.
  • Include room for growth.
  • The proper installation is crucial to your network's performance.
Pathways
The route that the communication cables follow from the wiring closet to the location requiring service.
  • Determine location of the wiring closet.
  • Find the path of least resistance.
  • Determine type of support system.
Media
Twisted pair cable is categorized by frequency and rated through-put. Certain applications have been associated with these cable types.
  • Category 3
Frequency range up to 16Mhz. Transmission rates 10 Mbps. Voice.
  • Category 5e
Frequency range up to 350Mhz. Transmission rates 155 Mbps. Data
  • Category 6
Frequency range up to 400Mhz. Transmission rates 1 Gbps. High Capacity Data.
Hardware
The physical piece of equipment that the media is terminated on or connected to. This hardware is used to create a balanced circuit. You have to deploy the proper termination hardware at the wiring closet and the location. Just like mathematics or more specifically an algebra expression, what you do to one side of the equation you must do to the other.

Grounding
  • Protecting personnel from electrocution.
  • Guard against adverse affects of lightning.
  • To reduce risk of static discharge damaging equipment.
  • To provide a path for discharge typically to earth ground.
